Ruth Baird

Ruth's inspiration for jewellery begins from her feelings of joy in the landscape and the natural world. She prefers simple techniques and using her hands rather than machines: knitting, crochet, and more recently, twining and weaving, form a large part of her work. Ruth often mounts titanium, niobium or shell in silver, then uses various grinding, punching or painting techniques to create a surface texture. Anodising produces colour variations such as vivid blues and greens.
