Takaaki Sakaguchi
Takaaki was born and grew up in Osaka, Japan, and currently lives in Christchurch. He is an internationally recognised fashion designer but has shifted his talents to ceramics in recent years. Takaaki is a reductionist at heart and feels his work with ceramics is very much influenced by a Japanese sensibility, although not always consciously. A love of the randomness and fluidity of nature, a love of texture, a love of the colours of the earth, all these are reflected in the work.
